Heider
À Carroll, dans l'Iowa, Heider Manufacturing a été le pionnier d'une gamme distinctive de tracteurs, caractérisés par leur mécanisme de transmission à friction innovant—une transmission à variation continue mécaniquement souple. La production a commencé en 1911 et, en un an, ces tracteurs étaient distribués à l'échelle nationale par l'intermédiaire du réseau établi de Rock Island Plow Company. Bien que Rock Island ait formellement acquis Heider Manufacturing en 1914, l'héritage de la marque originale a perduré, les tracteurs continuant à être commercialisés sous la désignation combinée 'Heider - Rock Island' pendant une période considérable par la suite.
