Rock Island
Les origines de la Rock Island Plow Company remontent à 1855, avec l'entreprise Buford & Tate – une société où Tate a notamment collaboré avec le pionnier John Deere. Au début du 20e siècle, Rock Island avait élargi sa gamme de produits et, en 1916, a acquis Heider Tractor. La fin des années 1920 a vu Rock Island innover avec de nouveaux concepts de tracteurs, une période malheureusement assombrie par les difficultés économiques de la Grande Dépression. Finalement, en 1937, les actifs de l'entreprise ont été transférés à J.I. Case.
