Rock Island
As origens da Rock Island Plow Company remontam a 1855, começando com a empresa Buford & Tate – uma firma onde Tate colaborou notavelmente com o pioneiro John Deere. Ao amanhecer do século XX, a Rock Island havia ampliado sua gama de produtos e, em 1916, adquiriu a Heider Tractor. O final da década de 1920 testemunhou a Rock Island inovando com novos conceitos de tratores, um período infelizmente ofuscado pelas dificuldades econômicas da Grande Depressão. Finalmente, em 1937, os ativos da empresa foram transferidos para a J.I. Case.
