Massey Ferguson Reaches Landmark: One-Millionth Tractor Rolls Off the Line
AGCO – June 14, 2022
AGCO Corporation is commemorating a major achievement: the production of its one-millionth tractor at the Massey Ferguson facility in Beauvais, France. This momentous occasion beautifully aligns with the company’s 175th year of innovation. Massey Ferguson has proudly been crafting tractors in Beauvais since November 20, 1960.
“This year is filled with celebratory milestones for Massey Ferguson,” stated Darren Parker, vice president of Massey Ferguson, North America. “We extend our sincere appreciation to the dedicated workforce in Beauvais for their tireless efforts in bringing our one-millionth tractor to fruition. We are also thrilled to mark 175 years of delivering robust, reliable equipment solutions. These coinciding milestones underscore our position as agricultural problem-solvers, committed to equipping individual farming operations with the ideal tools, at a fair price. Our machinery, much like the farmers we serve, is genuinely Born to Farm.”
Celebrating 62 Years of Beauvais Production
Thierry Lhotte, vice president and managing director, Massey Ferguson EAME, and president of AGCO in France, presented the landmark one-millionth tractor – a brand-new MF 8S.305 Dyna-VT – to Thierry Aubree, an arable farmer and agricultural contractor from the village of La Chapelle des Fougeretz in Brittany, France. “On behalf of every employee and dealer, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our customers for their unwavering confidence,” Lhotte shared. The new 8S expands Aubree’s growing Massey Ferguson fleet, which already includes four tractors, three combines, and two large balers.
Boussad Bouaouli, vice president of manufacturing at Beauvais, highlighted the dedication of the workforce on the Beauvais MF campus. “Since 1960, there have always been individuals who propelled this site forward, consistently prioritizing the needs of the farmer, addressing evolving challenges, and maintaining a forward-looking vision,” Bouaouli explained.
It all began with the MF 825 in 1960. Since then, the facility has continually expanded, producing iconic tractors driven by ingenuity, including:
MF 3000 Series in 1986, pioneering the use of onboard electronics in tractor design.
MF 8600 in 2008, introducing the efficient power concept, which minimized environmental impact through the innovative application of SCR technology to agricultural machinery.
MF 8S Series in 2020, showcasing the award-winning Protect-U concept, which creates a 9.4-inch separation between the cab and engine installation, thereby reducing heat, noise, and vibrations within the cab and enhancing overall cooling and performance. The MF 8S Series earned accolades including Tractor of the Year 2021, Red Dot: Product Design 2021, and Farm Machine 2022.
“The Beauvais plant and our devoted employees embody Massey Ferguson’s dedication to farmer-centric equipment solutions. This plant, recognized as Factory of the Year 2016, represents the modern face of Massey Ferguson. This campus defines our future and establishes new benchmarks,” Bouaouli stated.
The site has witnessed significant advancements in recent years, including the adoption of Lean Manufacturing practices, expansion of the Beauvais 2 cab assembly line, a new logistics center, and a Tractor Customization Workshop. The facility manufactures many of the brand's most sought-after tractors, including the MF 4700 M, MF 5700 M, MF 5S, MF 6S, MF 7S, MF 8S, and MF 8700 S Series. The plant can produce and ship up to 100 tractors daily to dealers in over 70 countries.
“As we deliver this one-millionth tractor, we are embarking on a unification of our sites into a single MF Campus, bringing all our departments under one roof,” Lhotte announced. “This fosters exceptional flexibility and leverages the unique experiences, skills, and commitment of our workforce. This milestone truly belongs to our 2,500 employees, including our GIMA transmissions’ Joint Venture.”
