During the mid-1970s, New Idea, operating as a segment of AVCO, ventured into the realm of outdoor power equipment, offering electric lawn and garden tractors to American consumers. Notably recognized as a producer of agricultural machinery—particularly their celebrated manure spreaders—New Idea initially distributed tractors sourced from General Electric under its own brand in 1974. However, this endeavor proved fleeting; GE transferred production responsibilities to Wheel Horse by 1975, and New Idea had fully cleared its remaining tractor stock by 1978. Subsequently, New Idea became integrated with White, and the resulting entity was acquired by AGCO in 1993.

Oliver-branded lawn tractors originated from the workshops of Jacobsen. Production of these tractors was limited to the year 1972, as White Motors undertook a restructuring of its tractor divisions, unifying them under the White name during 1973.
