The 8650 was the middle model of John Deere's 50-series four-wheel drive tractors that were first available in 1982. Efficiency was the advertising focus, noting that these tractors could be used throughout the season, not simply for tillage. The 8650 was able to plant and cultivate 30-inch rows, and perform a variety of field operations with its draft-control hitch and full-power PTO.
